Procedure aims to remove bunions

May 1, 2019 — Dr. Thomas Pignetti at Advanced Foot Care in The Woodlands, TX talks about his experience correcting bunions using the Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™. The Lapiplasty® Procedure has been designed to lessen the risk of a bunion returning over time and can give patients a faster recovery. He explained to NBC affiliate KPRC-TV that bunions form when an unstable joint in the middle of the foot moves out of proper alignment and that, in his opinion, the Lapiplasty® Procedure was the best option for bunion patients in his practice. The Lapiplasty® Procedure is unique in the way it allows him to accurately reposition the bones back into alignment before making any permanent corrections or bone cuts, and uses special titanium plates to secure the correction in place.

Patient Jeaneal Reese recalls being in consistent pain prior to the procedure, but says she was walking shortly after surgery in a walking boot. She is now able to live her life without bunion pain and looks forward to buying new shoes to celebrate the successful operation.
