New Procedure Aims to Correct Bunions at the Source

March 8, 2019 — Dr. David Kaplansky with Kaplansky Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, OH wants his patients to know that bunions are not a simple bump on the side of your foot. He explained to CBS affiliate WBNS-10TV that bunions are complex 3D deformities that occur because of an unstable joint in the middle of the foot. To correct the root cause of the issue and prevent the bunion from returning, he is now using the Lapiplasty® 3D Bunion Correction™ system. Dr. Kaplansky explained this procedure also provides patients with an accelerated recovery timeline.

His patient Vivian Kriel was among those treated with the Lapiplasty® Procedure. Before surgery, she described being in constant pain because of her bunions and struggled to find shoes to accommodate the bump on her foot. Following surgery, she was back on her feet in less than two weeks. Now able to walk without pain, she looks forward to wearing high heels at the office once again.
